I have had the experience of having my body deep set on a certain path and in my 30s completely altering it to become a highly fit well-tuned instrument, training with people who had already had a lifetime of instruction and were 15 years younger. I have also had the experience, a decade later, of so prioritizing raising kids that my body fell by the wayside and got very little, stiffening and weakening. and then its recovery back. All of these experiences have been extremely valuable to me and I wouldn’t have changed them. They have given me a wealth of insights into the body, the vast changes that can occur and what is possible. Listening and responding to the signs that my body was giving me has been key. Over and over again, when my body has shown me something, I have tried to address it through bodywork to great success.
I have been a massage therapist since 1992 and in private practice for 16 years. My work is anatomically specific, deep, and slow. It is a combination of myofascial release and neuromuscular therapy. To avoid confusion with classic relaxation massage, I often refer to it as manual therapy or bodywork.
